Every year, for my partner's birthday, I go to Anekawa and have omakase. Service is amazing, and food never disappointed! I always feel I want to go back there.
Truly had the most magnificent dinner here. No where else compares. The Food, Drinks and atmosphere all 10/10. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants on the Gold Coast.
Let me start with the service. Rhiannon and Ellie were impeccable, great knowledge of each and every dish, with the most perfect pairing of sake and other delicious cocktails. Not to mention their humorous fun and composure, Rhiannon brought a smile with every dish while Ellie offered the deeper intricacies. Whilst at the bar, the opportunities to watch Chef Koki in action had me salivating for the dishes to come. Leading to the actual dishes, which met and exceeded all expectations. Special mention goes out to the mochi and charred fioretto for mains, and ALL of the raw dishes, which I highly recommend. Finally, the atmosphere made me feel like I was once again in Japan. The gentle jazz offered a calm and soothing tone, paired well with the overall warm and contemporary aesthetic of Anekawa. This is the place to go if you are in need of a night away from the Gold Coast. Thanks again to the Anekawa team for making our anniversary feel special.
Our omakase at Anekawa was such a standout on the Gold Coast. The sashimi was some of the freshest weโve had, presented so simply but with incredible flavour. The gotofu was so silky, delicate, and satisfying with every bite. The beef clay pot felt comforting without ever being heavy. The honey dessert at the end had layers of sweetness and texture that made every bite a little moment to savour. The cocktails (Yuzu and Litchi) were just as impressive, creative, perfectly balanced, and a great complement to the omakase. The whole menu felt thoughtful and seasonal, and the intimate setting and great service made it feel like a really special experience. Definitely one weโd go back for.
Anekawa is a true gem on the Gold Coast. If youโre all about fresh seafood, this is the place to be. The 8 course omakase is an absolute must-try. Chef Kokiโs creative use of seasonal Australian produce and rare ingredients is always surprising and unforgettable. Many items on the menu are house made, including the chickpea miso used in the butter sauce, habanero kosho, calamansi ponzu, and even a yuzu cola, truly such an experience! The staff are wonderfully warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and offer excellent recommendations. Itโs easily one of the best Japanese restaurants in Australia. I canโt wait to come back!
