Yummy Japanese skewers, friendly staff, and a great overall experience. Food was tasty and service was welcoming.
As a lover of Japanese food, Birdโs Nest West End really stands out for its yakitori and charcoal grill work. The use of binchotan shows genuine technical understanding. Clean smoke, controlled heat and seasoning that highlights the ingredient rather than overpowering it. Skewers and grilled vegetables are consistently excellent and sit miles above the other offerings in Brisbane. My favourite here being Shiitake and Wagyu steak always cooked with perfect smoke and wonderfully paired sauces. The drinks also compliment the food perfectly. Signature cocktails are well-balanced and thoughtful (my favourite being Plum Passion) and pair nicely with the savoury, fire-driven menu. The sake and Japanese whisky options also feel curated and are plentiful for any palette Service is always amazing, knowledgeable and attentive, with staff who clearly understand the menu and guide the experience without being intrusive. Overall, Birdโs Nest delivers strong technique, cohesive flavours, with a very cosy atmosphere and wonderful decor. Will be back again many times.
Came to Birdโs Nest in West End to celebrate my son finishing primary school, and it was the perfect spot for it. The atmosphere is warm and lively, with a great buzz that makes the whole experience feel special. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed environment where nothing felt too hard. The food was outstanding โ fresh, flavourful, and beautifully cooked. I wish I took more photos, but I was too busy eating to share. If you enjoy Japanese cuisine or youโre simply after a quality dining experience in West End, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Highly recommended.
After reading all the good reviews, I thought it would be a nice place to celebrate my friendโs birthday. Unfortunately, the food was quite average. The grilled chicken skewer was dry and missing the grilled taste. Yakisoba was very salty and would have been quite plain if we hadnโt add on the chicken katsu. The dishes were pricey and the serving size were on the small side. We wonโt be returning anytime soon.
I had the limited special mushroom fried rice and it was superb! Full of flavour, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. Friendly staff and a cosy atmosphere. We will definitely be back!
