Absolutely a hidden gem in Mermaid and our new favourite Izakaya! The food was incredibly fresh, the owner and staff were so lovely, accommodating and genuine, and the atmosphere was beautiful and quiet, with lovely jazz and decor. The portion sizes were perfect and allowed us to try so many things on the menu, and holy moly totemo OISHII DESU (it’s very delicious!) It’s traditional Japanese cuisine with very fresh ingredients and traditional recipes, so prepare your belly for some of the best Japanese food you’ll get on the GC! 10/10 and we will be back to taste test some miso cheesecake 😉

Great place with very authentic, fresh and delicious food. I think portion size was slightly less than im used to, but the quality of food was wonderful. The place filled up quickly, they were very transparent about the time it took to make bento boxes. Service was very polite and welcoming. I will be coming back again - i only tried the lunch bento, look forward to ordering more next visit.

Great atmosphere, authentic and difficult to find a proper yakitori in the GC. Great sake selection as well, they had my favourite harushika ginjo which is on the cheaper side but delicious and refreshing. Everything we ordered was delicious and Service were super nice. Definitely come here again

Where do I even begin.. it was a Tuesday night and we were looking for something “easy” close by. My partner and I LOVE our food and are huge foodies (very hard to please). My god, this place quite literally knocked my socks off! The atmosphere, music, service and most importantly the food was OUTSTANDING!!! 5 star ⭐️ quality, there is absolutely nothing they could have done better. My only wish is that we found this place sooner 🤣 we will be back 1000% (thank god we live walking distance) and we will bring all of our friends with us. Well done guys & thank you! 🙏🏼♥️

We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at Gozan Hyoto Charcoal Grill Izakaya in Mermaid Waters and it was such a special experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was cosy and welcoming and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely incredible – our favourites included the crispy Gozan Karaage, melt-in-your-mouth Wagyu Kushiyaki, delicate Hotate (scallops), flavourful Tuna and perfectly cooked Pork Gyoza. Every dish was beautifully cooked and packed with flavour – it felt like a real treat. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese food on the Gold Coast, this hidden gem is a must-visit. Amazing food, wonderful service and a lovely spot for a date night or celebration. We can’t wait to come back!
