You will find this restaurant in the lower end of Lygon street amongst the pizza restaurants that are very popular on the area. It's a very different story in this restaurant. This is a place for special occasions because while expensive it offers an environment and level of service that is calming and great to be in. Thick starched white tablecloths, discreet lighting via the enormous paper lanterns that hang from the ceiling of the interior of the Victorian terrace give the customer a plush experience that is well worth it. The food of course is beautiful. Highly recommended
Our group of 5 enjoyed the 7 course degustation. Nice quiet atmosphere and understated decor. Attentive service. We didnโt go with the wine pairing option, but did enjoy some cocktails and wine of our choosing from the extensive wine list. Definitely one of the pricier meals Iโve had this year, but worth it if you want to treat yourself or celebrate a special occasion.
Fabulous food served by a wonderful team (including Chef Kazuki himself bringing out many dishes). The presentation is extraordinary and wine list extensive. Highly recommend
The service was very good, which is why I didnโt leave a review immediately after the meal on Wednesday. But the more I thought about it, the more upset I felt, and I think it should still be said. Kazukiโs in Melbourne is the worst fine dining experience Iโve ever had. Itโs over $200 per person, yet the first course foie gras had a bad, unpleasant smellโฆ The prawn dish that followed was deep-fried and not fresh, the duck breast was tough, and the worst part was the dessert โ the cake was topped with grated cheese, and the cheese itself smelled bad (why would you choose a cheese with such a strong, unpleasant odour??). Who were they trying to torture?
Highly recommend giving this place a try if you havenโt already! Itโs been a few years since our last visit, and happy to say the food is still just as yummy. Every dish was beautifully plated and full of flavour โ you can really tell they put care into both the presentation and the taste. The atmosphere is lovely too, making it a perfect spot for a date or special occasion.
