Small local restaurant that has really tasty ramen that is decent serving size. Not sure Iโd go out of my way to come here again but it was nice to try. Would recommend their Shogun ramens, and the sets. Kani Miso ramen (was hoping for some more crab flavour); Shogun Black ramen; Shogun Red ramen; BBQ pork mini don
I had kani(crab)-miso ramen . I lived in Tokyo for 30 years, but Iโve never had ramen with this much crab before โ it had about one and a half crabs in it. The flavor wasnโt too strong or too light, just perfect. It was a little spicy, but it was just right for me. Immediately tell how carefully the toppings were prepared. The seasoned boiled egg was absolutely outstanding.
Itโs tucked in a small building that sits on top of a hill so getting there was a challenge. But holy the ramen was amazing. I got one miso ramen (pretty sure) and gyoza. All of that was around $19 - insanely cheap for ramen in sydney. The girls were so nice and the food was top tier. The only limit is probably its small size (had like 10 tables max). Please visit this place itโs not known enough
Visited Ramen Shogun in Ultimo, and it instantly reminded me of ramen shops in Japan. The tonkotsu broth was creamy and flavorful without being too heavy, and the noodles had that perfect chewy bite. Every detail โ from the sliced chashu to the seasoned egg โ was spot on. The restaurant was clean, quiet, and welcoming, perfect for a comforting solo lunch or casual dinner. If youโre looking for real Japanese-style ramen in Sydney, this is a must-visit.
Ramen Shogun Ultimo is such a gem! It gives off a totally authentic Japanese vibe โ feels like a tiny ramen shop in Tokyo, right in the heart of Sydney. We tried the Kani Miso Ramen (crab ramen) and it blew me away โ they literally serve one and a half crabs in the bowl for just $25. So rich, flavorful, and worth every dollar. The Shogun Red Ramen was perfectly spicy and comforting, great for anyone who loves a little heat. We also ordered the Chicken Yakitori, which came in huge portions and was grilled beautifully, and the Pork Gyoza, which you can never go wrong with. If youโre looking for a cozy Japanese dinner spot under $100 for two, this is definitely the place. Highly recommend it for a casual date night or comfort food craving!
