Had a wonderful dining experience here. Zac's attention to detail is impeccable. The snacks (tartare, chicken liver parfait, paradise prawn spring roll) were all so tasty and intricately made. The Port Lincoln calamari with burnt shallot and ink is simply wonderful in taste and presentation. Typically not a fan of calamari, but didn't know it could be made to taste like this! The Southern rock lobster with white asparagus and radish was buttery and succulent and cooked to perfection. It was wonderful that the lobster was the highlight of the dish. The toothfish with XO butter and Kiwami wagyu and both our deserts were all very tasty. The establishment itself is a hidden gem - it doesn't have a big entrance sign or advertising and it's kind of tucked away in plain sight like the telephone booth entrance to the Leaky Cauldron in Harry Potter. But it is an elegant dining space that has an intimate feel to it. Besides this, the care and thoughtfulness put into our dishes was obvious even to our layperson eyes.

What an absolute delight, 10 seater in Darlinghurst. Incredible experience, chef Zac was so informative with each dish we had, it was so nice to watch him plate up step by step.

As much as I love experiencing different interpretations of foods, flavours and degustation experiences in general, this hit home in so many different ways. The overall vibe of the venue was relaxed and made even more so by Chef Zac, where if you've never experienced a degustation/course menu, he explains each menu item in detail and just wants you to relax and enjoy the food for what it is. For those who enjoy paired drinks, highly recommended as his experience also shines through with so many varieties of wine and alcoholic beverages that suit each dish in terms of flavour profile and balance. But, even if the drinks were on their own, would hold their own. Each dish was balanced and the point came across as described in the menu, with the artistic flair one would expect in fine dining. However, as we got to know Chef Zac for the duration of the course, his intent of the course menu shone through. For myself as an Australian-born Chinese/Vietnamese there was something comforting about key dishes throughout this 'journey' from Hong Kong to Australia and his food career. Where his interpretation of "black bean" beef was spectacular rendered in a amazing colour palette, to the additional course dessert of the "Hokkaido cheese tart" re-imagined, but hitting a nostalgic note for those who grew up with Haw candy whilst having to take bitter medicines. Honesty, a must for anyone who wants to experience dishes that may evoke nostalgia and childhood memories (especially those who are of similar origin), but also for someone who wants to experience Modern Chinese mixed into a fine dining with Western influence. Where in a market is flooded with Japanese/Korean inspired fine dining. This restaurant shows you the path of Chef Zac, and his current life's journey to discover himself and identity, whilst using food as a medium to tell his story. Will be strongly recommending to all my friends who are so similarly inclined as myself - Restaurant โ€œKaโ€ (ๅฎถ - which means Home in Cantonese) will definitely hit "ๅฎถ".

This spot came highly recommended by a chef friend of mine, and from the moment we sat down, it was clear why Zac is an absolute culinary talent, blending Asian and European influences in a way that feels both elevated and entirely effortless. Each course was beautifully plated, packed with flavour, and clearly crafted with precision and intent. We came in with a group and completely forgot to flag some dietary requirements ahead of time but Zac and the team didnโ€™t miss a beat. Not only did they accommodate us on the fly, they did so with warmth, care, and without compromising the experience for anyone at the table. The wine pairings were spot-on, the pacing of the meal was perfect, and the whole night had this quiet confidence - no pretence, just pure skill and hospitality. No wonder itโ€™s sitting on a perfect 5.0 stars on Google. Itโ€™s rare to find a place that delivers on food, service, and atmosphere so seamlessly. Restaurant Ka is a must-visit.

The food is nothing short of exceptional. Every dish is beautifully prepared using high quality ingredients, and the flavours are a masterclass in balance with rich umami notes and delicate smokiness throughout the menu. The pacing of the meal is spot-on, allowing you to enjoy each course without feeling rushed. Chef Zac is the heart of the experience. He prepares the food in front of you, offering insightful explanations that connect each dish to his heritage. His storytelling adds to the experience. It is a real cultural and sensory journey. Wine pairings are well considered and elevate the flavours of the food, rounding out an experience that feels both refined and deeply personal. Highly recommend if you are a foodie or just looking for a great night out
