I seriously wanted to give this place a 5 star rating. But one star got away because the evening went by super fast. I meant just approximately 75 minutes for the 18 course dinner. This is not a pure Sushi (Nigiri) Omakase place, rather a part French-part Kaiseki-part Nigiri Omakase style place. The chefs don't skimp on ingredients and everything is top quality. The taste is excellent as well as the execution. The service is shuttle yet never lacking. Yet, the dishes show up one after another without a break. If the actual dinner time could be stretched out to 100 minutes, this place is destined to be a wholesome experience.

Itโ€™s a really nice place, all the waiter and waitress provided exceptional service. The food is fresh, especially urchin. Chutoro tasted good. I ordered two glass of cocktails, one association with melon taste, one strawberry highball, both of them are good with a balanced fruity taste. I realized that seaweed come within a wooden box, iโ€™d be more appreciated if the chef can deal with the box separately from food, not grabbing seaweed from package and directly handling food to customers. Overall, a must try place in Chicago.

This omakase experience is located in a very unassuming area. You check in at the front of Sushi-San and then are escorted to the second floor through a private entrance to a secluded lounge where you can order drinks. The drink menu is extensive with options for everyone. When dinner is ready the curtains open and you are seated at the sushi bar. I enjoyed this omakase, the quality of ingredients used was very good. The flavors were nicely executed and did not overpower the fish. I like that all the courses werenโ€™t nigiri. You start off with small plated dishes, then move on to nigiri, then dessert. The chef mentioned where the ingredients were sourced from before serving each dish. I normally am not a fan of caviar or uni, but I was surprised by the sweetness of the uni and I liked that the caviar was not just salty. My only cons were that the chef seemed tired and brought the mood down. Maybe that is just his personality. I was also very underwhelmed by the dessert, I had higher expectations. Dessert was 2 courses, a sweet and salty egg dish and a ball of uni ice cream. Both were good, I was just expecting something more elevated. Other than that it was a great experience. I enjoyed the exclusivity of enjoying this meal in a secluded unassuming part of the restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive. The fish and quality of ingredients were fresh. Everything was perfectly seasoned and the flavors were good. I would recommend the spirit free drink pairing. These drinks were a nice addition to the meal.

Wow, what an amazing experience. This was my first Omakase experience, and the minute you arrive, you can tell how professional the staff is, and how wonderful of a time you will have. From the food, to the selected food options, the whole dining experience was wondering. The chef was great and explained every meal and how to properly enjoy it. A bit of a sticker shock when it can to the bill, but overall, worth every penny.
