Tucked away in arcade - highly recommended by our Japanese friend / family who we had dinner with . Presentation and food was amazing You order food via a tablet and staff bring it out Basic decor no tablecloths but would highly recommend a visit Byo wine corkage $10 per bottle so take a nice bottle
We ordered the twenty pieces of Sashimi. It appeared to be good value for money. Sashimi was good. A whole scallop was cut to two halves which counted to be two pieces. So food price is reasonable. The sashimi was fresh and good. Ordered tea for two person (I.e. $4.50 per person) a medium size tea pot with one tea bag. The first pot of tea has lots of flavours. The tea after a refill of hot water lost probably 75% of the tea flavours. Asked to replace with a second tea bag and the host told us that the pot has the tea bag for two and will not add a second tea bag. For this reason, the tea for two person appeared to be expensive. So for those who order tea, please order tea for one person. The wagyu beef hot pot soup was okay. Beef was okay but not so sure if that was actually wagyu beef. Had Unagi Don. Unagi was good and the japanese rice was nice. All in all, it was our first experience of this restaurant based on reasonable rating. On the other hand, personal experience would limit one time only.
This is a lovely cosy Japanese restaurant run by a friendly Japanese lady who clearly cares about the quality and authenticity of the experience. The menu is refreshing- not your typical sushi and teriyaki fare, but a well curated selection of traditional dishes that feel more home style and unique. Service was excellent throughout - warm, attentive, and welcoming. A particularly nice touch is the option to dine at a sunken table, which adds to the authentic atmosphere and makes the experience feel even more special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a more genuine and relaxed Japanese dining experience.
Good solid Japanese food at decent price at You Japanese restaurant. All the food was tasty - we ordered a lot of- agadashi tofu (large tofu in nice sauce), tempura prawns (good batter), Takoyaki (very nice), Okonomikyaki (very tasty Pancake). Highly recommended for good Japanese in Surfers!
- It’s an izakaya, the portions are relatively small and the prices are very reasonable. - The two of us ordered six dishes but ended up unable to finish everything. - Almost every dish contained Wagyu, so it got a bit heavy. - The sashimi and grilled Wagyu were quite yum. The stir-fried udon had a sweet and spicy flavor, which helped balance out the richness.
